If you submit a COEMOFA states that the listed documents (4)–(8) are not required again for the visa application in that route. The COE examination itself, however, requires supporting evidence, and local missions can request additional documents.
02 · APPLICATION ROUTES

COE or direct document submission?

With a Certificate of EligibilityA regional immigration bureau issues the COE. Presenting it can make the visa application and landing examination smoother, but it does not guarantee issuance or entry.
Without submitting a COEMOFA publishes a document set for the future-creation individual. Confirm whether and how your responsible embassy or consulate accepts this route before preparing the filing.
Do not copy another applicant's process blindly.Local mission practices, appointment systems, translations, copies and additional-document requests can differ. Contact the responsible Japanese mission with your location and planned route.

Download the latest university list and forms

Keep dated copies of the official sources used for your eligibility check.

Prove the award and date clearly

A transcript alone may not prove the award date. Use the diploma, degree certificate or other requested evidence.

Write a realistic activity plan

Name your target industries, search channels, planned location and timeline. Do not invent confirmed interviews or companies.

Make the savings evidence easy to read

Include account holder, currency, balance and statement date. Add translations or explanations when required.

Check consistency

University name, award date, addresses and history should align across the form, CV, plan and evidence.

Confirm submission and follow-up rules

Ask how additional documents will be requested and how long your passport may be held.
